Unveiling Betrayal: A Journey into the Unknown

Only a few days had passed, and it seemed as if Sarah had made a miraculous recovery. I wondered if she remembered the attack or me carrying her to safety. I was reluctant to ask, as I didn't want to trigger any confusing or painful memories, much like my own when I was first awakened.
I was passing by father's lab when a general along with two military officers were carrying out some equipment and as I stormed in there as to lay down the law and demand answers they passed by me like I wasn't even standing there.
We were busy packing our small devices, clothes, and a few personal items into my ship. When I inquired about our destination, I was told not to ask questions and to stay focused on the task at hand, just as I had promised.
Father took Sarah aside for a private conversation before him and I headed towards a hanger bay when an exposion happened and the ceiling partially collapsed separating me and father. He told me to go get the ship ready and he would be there shortly. Sara then approached me from around the corner stating that we needed to leave immediately and passed by. Confused, I hastily gathered my belongings and followed her. I started to ask her about the private discussion, but before I could, the ground shook once again, and the sounds of nearby explosions filled the air. We rushed to the ship hangar, and as we were boarding, I inquired about Father's whereabouts. She briefly glanced at me and stated that he wouldn't be joining us. She jumped into the pilot's seat and initiated the engines. As I peered through the windshield, I spotted Father in the operations tower, activating the hangar doors. In what felt like a split second, we were at full throttle, ascending out of the planet's atmosphere. I never knew she could fly. As we broke through the atmosphere, we could see more Vanduul ships approaching the planet. A communication link from the navy demanded that we identify ourselves. Without hesitation, she engaged the quantum dampeners, and we vanished from sight.
After jumping into quantum, Sarah turned to me with a smile. My mind was racing with questions. Why hadn't Father joined us? Where were we going? How did she acquire her piloting skills? Who was she, truly? She reached over and took my hand, beginning to explain that Father knew we were at risk of betrayal due to his work. There were those who opposed the idea of people living indefinitely. She went on to clarify that our DNA had been enhanced to make us more attuned to the expanding universe. Father had chosen to remain with his ailing wife, who couldn't be cloned, as she believed it would compromise her soul. We were in route to a secret bunker with a singular mission: to uncover the identity of those who had betrayed him and to eliminate the threat they posed to humanity.
It became evident how little I truly understood father, but Sarah appeared to have insight.
Upon our arrival at a modest moon, we descended into its thin atmosphere. As we approached, we noticed old mining equipment scattered on the surface. We landed in a small valley surrounded by mountains and proceeded to enter a cavernous opening. Descending via a freight elevator, we seemed to travel miles below the surface. Upon our arrival, we were met by a group of men engrossed in a monitor, and one of them approached Sarah, addressing her as commander. He then began explaining that the Vandul had annihilated nearly everyone on our planet. Two navy ships had escaped through a wormhole as the first wave of Vandul ships materialized. Sarah ordered a complete lockdown, and we made our way to what would serve as our sleeping quarters. Depositing her bags on the bed, she kissed me and whispered, "my Starman," before telling me she'd be back in a little while. Once again, I was left in the dark, feeling more lost than ever before.
